I capture the life you’ve lived securing your legacy in a Statement that lasts. It becomes an investment in who you are — the stories, values, and small truths that matter — held in a piece you’ll cherish for years to come.

Every Statement begins informally — a conversation rather than a consultation. We meet face‑to‑face, online, or at myks.studio so you can see the work and I can begin to understand the person behind the request. This first step is simply about connection: who you are, what matters to you, and what you want this piece to hold long after it leaves my hands.

Once we begin, the conversation deepens. We explore the stories, influences, turning points, and quiet acknowledgements that have shaped your life. These are the threads that define you — the ones that endure, the ones you hope will be remembered. This is a collaborative process: your memories, values, and emotional landscape become the material I work from.

You receive a commissioned Statement that reflects exactly what we agreed. It may be a contemporary, quietly powerful piece, or something more playful and symbolic — rabbit ears, a bucket on your head, or a detail only those closest to you would recognise.
Whatever the direction, it is intentional. The result is a personal legacy piece — honest, layered, and unmistakably yours.
This commission set out to capture Michael’s quiet role as a devoted husband for 65 years. As the conversations evolved, the focus naturally shifted to the napkin — a small but meaningful item that came to symbolise love, care, and constant presence, carrying far more significance than first imagined.
When asked, “Considering you have been married for over 60 years, is there one memory that still makes you smile about your wife, Maureen?” Michael answered without hesitation: “The red and white polka dot dress she first wore when I first met her”.
“I was deeply touched by the final piece. Maureen and I can’t stop looking at it and smiling — it was a joy from beginning to end.”
Michael Martin
This Award‑Winning piece captures the moment when one chapter ends and another begins.
Centred on an older man riding a scooter marked with learner plates, it distils the story of a successful businessman stepping into a new career where nothing feels familiar. The unease in his posture and expression reflects the vulnerability of starting again, learning from scratch, and moving forward without the certainty he once carried.
Created as a commissioned example, this Statement shows how a personal shift—full of change, doubt, and possibility—can be transformed into contemporary, emotionally honest painting.
“I wanted to express what it feels like to be completely out of your comfort zone, and how quickly life can shift. I’d just celebrated the idea of early retirement, only to realise I still had many years ahead and a new path to navigate. This Statement reminds me how fortunate I am, and how the feelings that unsettle us are so often only temporary.”
